Taskstream

Taskstream is a web-based service that offers tools for portfolio-building, lesson plan, unit, and rubric development, and support. Olivet Nazarene University has partnered with Taskstream to streamline and simplify the portfolio process, provide important resources to candidates, and improve faculty-student communication. You will use it to fill out the Teacher Education Application and Student Teaching Application, develop all three of your required portfolios, develop lesson plans and rubrics, and submit documents to instructors.

How will Taskstream be rolled out?

All candidates who have not completed their Level I portfolios will now be required to purchase a Taskstream account and build their portfolio there. All students who have already completed their Level I Portfolio, or who have already taken EDUC 295 and have created their electronic portfolio in the old format, will NOT be required to purchase a Taskstream account. Those students who are not required to purchase a Taskstream account may still want to do so due to the benefits of having an account (see below).

What do I get with my subscription to Taskstream?

Tools to develop your Level I, Level II, and Level III portfolios that are easy to use and meet the School of Education requirements.

A place to store portfolio documents as you complete them in a course or field experience.

The ability to develop your Education portfolio and other webpages/presentation portfolios and make them accessible to those outside of ONU (i.e. potential employers).

The ability to download your portfolios and other webpages, save them on a disk, and reuse them in the future.

Access to the required application forms (both Teacher Education and Student Teaching) for your program.

An ONU Lesson Plan template (required for education courses and for student teaching) that allows you to develop and store your ONU Lesson Plans, as well as share your lesson plans directly with professors, using an easy-to-use template.

A rubric-building tool that makes assessment rubrics easy to develop, easy to share, and easy to store/reuse.

Access to all state and national standards and the ability to embed them directly in lesson plans and rubrics.

What do I need to do?

  1. First, purchase an account. The Learning Achievement Tools (LAT) system by TaskStream is available through the ONU Bookstore and may also be purchased through the TaskStream website. NOTE: You have a choice regarding the length of your subscription. Before you decide, review the pricing information.
  2. Next, activate your account. Instructions located on our Training Materials page.
  3. Then, complete the Teacher Education Application. Instructions located on our Training Materials page.
  4. Once you have completed the Teacher Education Application, the School of Education will give you access to the Level I Portfolio area. In the mean time, you can begin storing the artifacts you have already been collecting from your course work by adding them to your personal portfolio storage area. Instructions located on our Training Materials page.

How do I learn how to use Taskstream?

We are providing instructions for the major components of Taskstream on our Training Materials page. We highly recommend that you go to the School of Education computer lab (Weber 307) when a lab assistant is on duty when you plan to activate your account, fill out the Teacher Education Application, and add portfolio artifacts. If the schedule on the outside of Weber 307 says "Open Lab," a lab assistant is available. The best time may be to work in the lab on Monday nights between 6:00 and 10:00 pm.

Who do I contact if I have questions?

You can work with the Computer Lab Assistant or contact the School of Education at (815)939-5232 if you have any questions.
